DeMarcus Cousins signs with the Warriors. I was just as stunned as you all were with the headline. The reaction was: “NO!! NO!! NO!! NO!! What the heck is going on?!!” It seemed crazy and then we learned the price. It was for 5.3 freaking million! L-O-L. We’ve heard of players taking less to play for a championship but that was ridiculous. The team was already overpowered and were probably a guarantee to win next anyway. The Rockets lost Ariza in free agency and overpaid to resign an aging and injured prone guard in Chris Paul. We all know LeBron’s ragtag combustible group had no chance of doing anything next year. Now this is just a joke you all say.
But guess what? With all of that being said, it’s time we take a deep breath and get over this Demarcus Cousins thing. The Warriors needed a starting caliber center. Pachulia, Looney, and JaVale McGee are not great options to say the least. If you’re the Warriors and a player of Cousins’ caliber is available for 5 million, why wouldn’t you take a chance? Seriously, why wouldn’t you? If his Achilles is still an issue or if he’s a huge locker room malcontent, you can always get rid of him with no issue.
Are you clowns seriously saying that if you had the chance to upgrade your team when the opportunity just falls on your lap, you wouldn’t? You would intentionally not upgrade your team because you’re worried about other teams and their fans complaining because they will have an even harder time of beating you? No. When you’re picking your teammates as a captain in pickup basketball, you’re taking the best players you can. This isn’t a cap issue either and there’s no rules the Warriors are breaking as well. When you draft well, create a great locker room culture, and have an owner willing to spend to win it all then you’ve now earned the right to attract free agents that want to win with you, even at stupid cheap prices.
Look, I’m no devil. I still emphasize with your frustration from the lack of parity in the league (even though it’s always been that way but let’s pretend it’s not the case for this argument). However, you’re little tantrums are aimed at the wrong people. You don’t have to stop rooting against the Warriors. That’s fine. It is sports. Pick whoever you want to root for or against for whatever reason. Just make sure that your hatred for the Cousins’ signing should go to all the other teams that never sign or draft good players. So many crappy teams have owners that only spend just enough to be okay, not to win championships. They can’t draft well. They have general managers that make baffling signings such as wasting money on washed up players after a bad season as if that is supposed to help the team. They sign big money to guys everyone knows is going to suck. Take this as a compliment but some of these general managers and front office executives make decisions that would make even some of you fools look smart and that’s really saying something.

So many lame teams like the Magic, Kings, Nets, and more make bad decisions that allow other well run organization to further capitalize. Also, Cousins went to the Warriors to show that he can still play well despite coming off his Achilles, to win, and to show he can be a team player. The fact he chose the Warriors is because they give him the best chance to win. That’s what happens when you’re a great team. You attract others that want to jump on the bandwagon. Because they are great and don’t need him, they are the perfect team to take a chance on the injured and malcontent player because if he fails, the team won’t skip a beat. Other teams can’t take those chances because they’re not good enough or because they probably weren’t going to make a big enough push for him anyway if he was good because of what I said earlier.
Look, the bottom line is no one is saying you should like this but to blame the Warriors for simply getting better or to blame the league even though the Warriors signed Cousins for only 5 million is just silly. Just accept the fact that your team sucks, isn’t good enough, or that you’re only upset because the team dominating right now is a team you don’t like. If it was, you wouldn’t be complaining that much.
